How Do I Know If My Baby Is Ready For Weaning From The Breast?
|
My son is 13 months old and is starting to seem disinterested in nursing. He drinks really well from his sippy cup. How do I know when my baby is ready to be weaned from the breast?

Sunday 28th of February 2010 08:27:59 AM If your baby is already accepting a sippy cup then now is the time to ween him off the nipple. If you don't do it soon, you may find that weening him off later will be more difficult. Try only breastfeeding him during the day at different times. If you try doing it before bed he might get accustomed to that pattern and have trouble sleeping without being breastfed.

Sunday 21st of March 2010 05:38:15 AM I guess your son is already ready. Though based on my experience, it took us almost two years to weaned from breast, bottle and sippy cup. It doesn't hurt to alternate the sippy cup and bottle. Try to observe him when using the sippy cup and bottle. Some children drinks a lot or finishes his milk when he's interested with the container. I didn't force change immediately because it will only frustrate both of us. Good luck.
