When Can A Child Start Eating The Apple With Skin On It?
|
My son is almost 3 and he loves apples. I've always peeled the apple before I gave it to him. Last night he saw his dad eating an apple, skin and all, and wanted to try it. I'm afraid that the apple peel may be a choking hazard. When is it safe for a child to start eating apples with he peel left on it?

Sunday 28th of February 2010 09:38:55 AM While the peel on the apple is a different texture making it a choking hazard, children can start eating the apple whole at 18 months. Children have developed enough teeth at 18 months to be able to chew the skin properly. To take extra precautions, try giving your infant Gala apples as the peel is not as tough.
