Can't Feel My Baby Move Yet
|
I am 21 weeks pregnant and I have yet to feel my baby move. I just had an ultrasound last week, and I could see him moving around a little bit. I can't help but worry, though. My best friend could feel kicking at 18 weeks. When should I call my doctor with my concerns?

Monday 15th of February 2010 02:03:16 AM This all depends on whether it is your first pregnancy or not. It can take longer to feel the kicking if it is your first pregnancy, because you don't know what it feels like. In your second pregnancy you know what to expect. However, if you have any concerns, do not hesitate to contact your doctor, and I'm sure he will put your worries to rest.

Thursday 18th of February 2010 05:01:06 AM if the ultrasound shows your baby move and there is a good strong heartbeat you don't need to be concerned. Find out which way your baby is lying. If he is facing your back and not tumbling around much it will be too early to feel kicks and punches. it could also be your baby is small so the movements are not as obvious. Some women also don't realise that the butterflies they are feeling is actually the baby's movments.

Thursday 18th of February 2010 04:40:55 PM Everyone is different. With my first child, i felt movement at 18 weeks and it felt like something going 'whoosh' in my tummy. With my second baby, i didnt feel anything until 22 weeks and the movements felt more like bubbles in my tummy until about 26 weeks when they became more pronounced. When you are moving around during the day, its sometimes hard to pick up the movements as they can be very slight. Some women feel very little, but once you do start feeling movement, you should feel something at least once a day. Get to your Dr if you go for more than two days without feeling anything - but again this only applies to you when you start feeling something. By 24 weeks, movement should definitely feel obvious.

Sunday 21st of February 2010 03:57:22 PM If the doctor see on the ultrasound that the baby is moving and all the parameters are ok that you don't need to worry.
Is this your first pregnancy? If so, I am sure you are not distinguishing the true movements then to some cramps or gas from your belly.
Every women feel them differently so that's why you think you don't feel them
It could be the movements of your kid are very gentle and soft and could be another reason for not feeling them. One two weeks more and you will distinguish them!
good luck!

Thursday 4th of March 2010 04:00:47 AM You just had your ultrasound therefore your doctor must tell you how the baby is positioned. It is because of how and where the baby is positioned that sometime you don't feel the kick. Oftentimes the baby is facing the placenta so when he /she kicks you don't feel it. Go back to our doctor and have him explain to you the situation so you won't get so worried so much.
