You should definatelt consult a doctor. It sounds as though this could possibly be cellulitus which is an infection. if it is the doctor may want to prescribe antibiotics. You don't need to go to the emergency room, but you should see a doctor as soon as possible. In the mean time you need to keep the leg elevated.

The swelling could be caused by a number of things - it could be an insect bite or reaction to something. Whatever it is, you need to see a Dr to rule out anything more serious. If it is a bite, you will be prescribed an anti-histamine that will ease the swelling. Swelling and pain can also be associated with deep vein thrombosis - a blood clot which can be fatal. If you can't see your Dr and the pain persists, go to the nearest hospital and get yourself checked out.

Swollen legs could signal preeclampsia. If you are not in a position to see your physician, play it safe and visit the emergency room. Even after a visit to the emergency room you'll have to see your physician as well. It's always better to be safe than sorry. So when in doubt go to the emergency room.

Go to your Physician or the emergency room. This need immediate medical attention that you shouldn't delay. The fact that it is causing you so much pain and swollen is something that you should be very concerned about. So move on and get medical attention immediately.
