I'm Having Contractions And It's Too Early
I am only 32 weeks pregnant and I have started having contractions. They aren't regular, but they are very uncomfortable. My doctor says they are Braxton Hicks contractions and that I shouldn't be worried. How will I know if they are something to be concerned about?

Braxton Hicks are very common from seven months onwards, although some women get them earlier. As long as there are no other problems such as bleeding, breaking waters or blood stained discharge, there is no problem. These practice contractions are your body's way of preparing you for birth. They shouldn't cause pain, so if there is any terrible pain or you find it difficult walking, see your Dr straight away.

Believe me you will know when they are real. The pain is unbearable. I started having contractions at 18 weeks and they had to give me medicine to stop them but when they couldn't be stopped I knew it was time. Your stomach will get super tight and the shooting pain will start at the bottom and go all the way to the top of your stomach.

If you are merely describing them as 'uncomfortable' then you have nothing to worry about. When your contractions become so painful that you have to stop what you are doing and they come and go at regular intervals, then you should be concerned. Also remember that from 36 weeks it is safe to go into labour. So you only have 4 weeks to go! Some women experience weeks of pre-labour, so it may be your body is preparing you gradually for active labour.

if you are experimenting some contractions but no pain that means you have Braxton hicks contractions whic are normal to appear 1-3 weeks before delivery. you should worry about when they become painful and also become regular as they are in labor. You could experiment the labor sooner then you expect so be prepared for them. Good luck!

Once actual labor starts, your contractions should be at more regular intervals (5 minutes or more apart), and they will be longer and stronger. You must go to the hospital, however, if your waters break. Make sure that you are prepared for the birth, should your baby actually be arriving a little earlier than expected. Keep in touch with your doctor if you are still concerned.

It is just normal and shouldn't be a cause of worry. What you do when this happen is drink a lot of water so you get a full bladder, urinate and the contraction will stop. You could also lay down on your left. You worry when the contraction doesn't stop in spite of doing these and it happen after every 3 or 5 minutes in a day.
