Does My Daughter Have An Umbilical Hernia?

My daughter is 2 weeks old and her umbilical cord finally fell off. Beside her belly button there is a small lump that bulges out when she cries. Does she have an umbilical hernia?

Yes, but the hernia is in primary stage. Generally, as the baby grows ,this disappears on its own naturally with passing years in majority of cases. However, if the lump increases in size or protrudes outwards constantly, medical advice should be taken. In some cases ,minor surgery is required to correct the hernia.
