Is It Safe To Post Pictures Of My Child On The Internet?

My family lives all over the country and I have a cousin that is deployed overseas. My baby is due in 3 weeks and everyone keeps telling me that I should post pictures of her on the internet when she comes. I've heard a lot of stories about creeps looking at children on the internet for unwholesome reasons, and sometimes they even try to make contact with them. Is it safe to post pictures of my child on the internet?
